Can't sign in to ANY websites! Help!?

July 24th, 2010

I’m using Moxilla Firefox and yesterday it decided to not allow me to sign into my hotmail, facebook personal banking and all other internet accounts where you need login details, despite the fact my internet connection is fine. The same thing happens when I use internet explorer. This happened spontaneously without my having altered any settings…it’ll just come up with ‘unable to connect page’. What’s going on and I’d be v grateful if someone could tell me how to fix it!
fuelpay I wish i could give you a million best answers because you were very right and it worked! Thank you you have possibly saved my career! Stupid Norton rubbish. Thank you thank you!

Do you by any chance have an old uninstalled version of Norton anti-virus on your computer? If so, uninstall here http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 and you should immediately be able to use the internet as normal again!

:-) Thank you so much! Your added post made me so happy! I found this out abut 18 months ago when it happened to me yet no-one seems to know about it and always suggest altering security settings etc for questions like this. I tried everything before I found out about the Norton thing so I know how frustrated you felt - I’m thrilled to have been able to help! X

sounds like you may have some spy ware or something. Go to download.com and download a free spyware detector, see if that helps.

Reset your security settings to medium or low. It is probably a problem with your secure connections, just restore all defaults and restart.

you have to make sure firefox is disabled. you will see an x on the firefox logo at the bottom, then you should be fine.

How were you able to get here????

It’s not that I don’t want to help you but your question is either way too vague for anyone to help you or you don’t have a problem and are bored.
