New Online Banking GUI Concept
August 18th, 2010
This is a project from a product management class I’m in. The concept behind this interface design is to make online banking, and personal finance management as a whole, feel and look like using your Windows or Mac desktop. The visual component is only a small portion of the total package though. The entire concept includes an open-source design that lets users create their own financial products and tools and a microeconomic framework upon which heuristic-based financial recommendations can be made. Holy buzzwords, Batman! And I’m no fan of that use of passive voice at the end, either. Special thanks to Saravanan, Avinash, and Peter without whom I’d surely be sitting on a couch eating Cheetos.

This does a great job getting across the concept. It also gives some very strong examples of how this differs from all other banking applications and how it can be utilized.
People in finance will understand its value instantly. I know when strands was working with BBVA on ‘BBVA tu cuentas’ there was a TON of red tape around the security issue. I was a large ordeal at every turn of the project that really slowed them down. I suggest talking to someone that has dealt with this in the past.
