What can I do about someone posing as me to obtain my personal bank account information?

September 28th, 2009

This person or persons went into a branch (far from my home, and not my main branch) and posed as me to get my personal bank account information. I know the person that did it, and the bank teller was a friend of theirs and supplied the information. My local branch is handling the matter with the teller. But what are the consequences of fraudulently obtaining someone else’s personal account records? What can happen to the people that posed as me to get my information? What do I need to do? Thanks for any feedback :)
That is called identity theft and yes that is illegal. Contact your local police agency ASAP.

That’s identity theft. Call the police agency in charge of the jurisdicion where the bank is. If they don’t get involved, call your local D.A.

This is identity theft, and maybe more. Go to the local DA, and contact the DA in the jurisdiction where it happened, give them the info, and move forward from there.
