Personal Computers Could Be Open to Government Access Under New Obama Copyright Plan

May 16th, 2010

The personal computer may soon be not-so-private, with the US and some European nations working on laws allowing them access to search the content held on a person’s hard drive… Should Obama Control the Internet? Thu April 2, 2009 12:33 PM PST Should President Obama have the power to shut down domestic Internet traffic during a state of emergency? Senators John Rockefeller (DW. Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) think so. On Wednesday they introduced a bill to establish the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor—an arm of the executive branch that would have vast power to monitor and control Internet traffic to protect against threats to critical cyber infrastructure. That broad power is rattling some civil libertarians. The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (PDF) gives the president the ability to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” and shut down or limit Internet traffic in any “critical” information network “in the interest of national security.” The bill does not define a critical information network or a cybersecurity emergency. That definition would be left to the president. The bill does not only add to the power of the president. It also grants the Secretary of Commerce “access to all relevant data concerning [critical] networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access.” This means he or she can monitor or access any data on private or public networks without regard to privacy laws. Ron Paul should have been the Republican candidate, if not Bob Barr should have been elected President in 2008.

Now the radical socialist Barrack Obama is showing his fascist colors and you liberals are to blame. Nice going! God help us from him crowning himself emperor because let me tell you something else Senator Feingold (D) of Wisconsin tried to hold hearing into the Czars because they circumvent congress’ U.S. Constitutional power and the White House ignored it. Look past the 2 parties

the lady compares computer sniffing (access under the act) with underwear sniffing … neat … they should be linked by law … that is … the gummint should be required to sniff both, NOT EITHER, but both and only both … in fact, the gummint can eat my shorts … in fact, i insist.

Even if Ron Paul got enough votes to win, the powers at be would have simply rigged the election results.

This is fucking disgusting. What is the use? What? Seriously, tell me what’s the use?
Oh wait, I’m sorry, I didn’t know Xzibit had to buy $25000 rims for his car instead of $26000 because the faggot’s songs were downloaded.
What is the use? Systems that are built by people can be bypassed, cracked, hacked, and backdoor’d by people. WON’T WE EVER FUCKING LEARN?
Plus, the “money” people lost due to P2P/Torrents is VIRTUAL. We’re paying with PAPER not GOLD. These values don’t exist anymore. Fuck!

Imagine waiting in line on Christmas at the airport security checkpoint for over 2 hours for them to search through everyone’s laptops, ipods, and cell phones!

This will destroy the economy, it will destroy millions of jobs already at a time when the economy is weakened. Airliners, IT Managers, and ISPs will all suffer greatly from this.

Get a hard drive ecryption program such as TrueCrypt, VERY good, and of course free

  22. Comment by sniffy45

Exactly, encrypt your drive and smile. Of course it can be cracked but is very difficult and time consuming. You can also rig it so any attempts wipes or corrupts the drive. And dont worry, as long as we have a capitalist system, whatever they put in place can and will, always be circumvented its just a system tit for tat at their expense not ours.
