For example, in Australia if I transfer funds from my account to another persons account on a saturday, the person will not recieve them until the next business day (monday). Why is this the case do computers take the weekend off too?

Is Saturday considered a business day in the baking world or would the check that they put through not be cleared til Monday?
Nope-sorry. Business days are Monday through Friday.
